    The soldiers of the future made to save humanity

    My heart races as a whole transport aircraft comes out of a shining portal and marines pour out of it. After our last fight, there’s no way we can take them on. I lay down my weapon, as do my comrades. But instead of starting a fight, this crew asks for our help, saying they came from the future to stop an alien invasion that could result in an unstoppable invasion. Great. I never envisioned myself as a hero. After being through the worst humanity has to offer, I didn’t feel they deserved a hero. Still, in their hour of need, here I am, doing what’s ‘right’. Here we are, saving mankind.
